Rabaska is a Maremma Sheepdog, a guardian dog whose role is to protect sheep from coyotes. Whether in the pasture or in the barn, she lives with her flock 24/7, summer and winter. The sheep are her family!
If you come to the Farm and approach the sheep, you will certainly hear her continuous barking, sometimes deep, sometimes high-pitched, between the desire to play and the desire to communicate to you that she is at work. She arrived at the Farm in November 2024, at the height of her 10 months, and she is still very reactive to new things in her environment and to new people. Don't worry, she will not jump the fence and will not attack you unless you are a coyote who wants to eat one of her lambs. ;)
La Ferme l'étincelle has a new address!
on Apr 20 2025
Indeed, after seven seasons of growing on rented land, La Ferme l'étincelle had to work to find a new location when the owner announced that he wanted to take over the lease... Fortunately, a neighboring farmer agreed to sell part of his land and the division was authorized by the Commission de la Protection du Territoire Agricole du Québec (CPTAQ).
So here we are now on a magnificent 40-acre plot of land, partly cultivated, partly wooded, with a barn, a shed, and a house allowing us to live on site. And all this while remaining in the same village; in Johnville!
Our new address: 4170 Route 251, Cookshire-Eaton (Johnville), J0B 1M0
Although we took possession of the premises in 2024 in order to prepare the fields and renovate the buildings, the 2025 season is the first 100% on our new Farm!
